James Marsden Reprises His Role As Man Being Phased Out of Sequels

(Satire)

The trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released this week confirming the introduction of Tails and Knuckles in the movie, as well as James Marsden reprising his role as Guy Who Gets Less Screentime in Every Sequel. It’s the role Marsden is perhaps most famous for.

“I made a name for myself in the X-Men franchise for getting less and less to do as the movies went on and I really wanted to capture that magic again in Sonic, so you’ll notice I’m barely in this sequel - this time I’ve been replaced by a CGI fox and yet another character with knuckle claws, so that’s a nice step down for me.”

But Marsden’s specialty isn’t just having his role reduced in movies, he’s recently become a master of being kicked off the small screen as well, leaving HBO’s hit show West World in season 2 to be replaced by Aaron Paul.

Showrunner of Westworld Lisa Joy said in a recent interview, “We knew this character wasn’t going to be around for long, so we needed somebody particularly replaceable, and James really has that range. Remember the Notebook? Rachel McAdams left him for Ryan Gosling so fast! As she should. Plus he did a great job in Superman Returns as the guy you forget is there once Superman titularly returns.”

2022 will be a big year for Marsden as he will also reprise his role from 2007’s Enchanted in the sequel Disenchanted. The original movie saw Amy Adams leave Marsden for Patrick Dempsey and fans are excited to barely see him in the sequel.
